The Frame

The frame of the Leach wheel is built out of solid mahogany lumber. All posts and rails are joined with mortise and tenon construction. This traditional method of joinery results in the sturdiest possible frame. In addition to the mortises and tenons, all joints are bolted together. This keeps the joints tight under constant heavy use and also allows the wheel to be taken apart for storage or shipping. The frame is hand-sanded and then hand-oiled with a water repelling oil. The treadle location is adjustable to the user's leg length. Each wheel is assembled and tested before shipping.
